Ice Cube and ‘War of the Worlds’ top the Razzies

Ice Cube and ‘War of the Worlds’ Lead Razzie Awards Winners

The 46th edition of the Golden Raspberry Awards, or Razzies, has unveiled its list of losers, with a single movie claiming several dubious accolades. The 2025 remake of ‘War of the Worlds’ dominated the ceremony, earning top honors in five categories, including worst picture, worst director, and worst actor for Ice Cube. This follows its previous 2005 predecessor, which starred Tom Cruise, in a tradition of cinematic missteps.

Key Nominations and Surprises

The 2025 film amassed six nominations in total, narrowly missing out on the worst screen combo title, which went to the seven CGI dwarfs in Disney’s live-action ‘Snow White.’ The artificial septet also secured the worst supporting actor award. While the Razzies are known for their humorous take on cinema, they reward films deemed lacking in quality, often serving as a lighthearted contrast to the Oscars.

“The Razzies take a tongue-in-cheek approach to cinema by handing out awards for those films that are, shall we say, viewed as less than stellar.”

As usual, the winners were announced the day before the Academy Awards, setting the stage for a weekend of both celebration and critique. This year’s Redeemer Award was presented to Kate Hudson for her role in ‘Song Sung Blue,’ following her 2021 loss for worst actress in ‘Music.’
