Child killed in suspected dog attack was baby girl

On Thursday afternoon, a three-month-old infant was found dead in a suspected dog-related incident in Redcar, local authorities reported. The event unfolded near an address on Hardale Grove, in Dormanstown, shortly after 1:30 PM BST.

Cleveland Police stated that officers had to destroy two dogs—one encountered on the street and another at the premises—to address the situation.

A 45-year-old man was detained by police for allegedly allowing a dog to act dangerously and cause injury leading to death. He has been granted conditional bail pending further investigation.

Officials believe the child’s demise was caused by a dog bite, though the exact circumstances are still under review.

During the incident, a 31-year-old woman suffered a minor injury to her arm and was treated at a medical facility. Both canines involved were examined by a specialist and determined not to be of a restricted breed.
