Allegations of Tax Evasion Surface Against Reform UK Leader
The Sunday Times reports that a property investment firm, Quidnet REIT Limited, allegedly violated tax laws by not withholding 20% of dividends paid to Richard Tice, deputy leader of Reform UK. Tice, who serves as the party’s business spokesman, is said to have received at least £91,000 in unpaid taxes through his offshore trust. The paper claims the company failed to apply the required levy before distributing profits to Tice.
“Revenue and customs have been paid in full, and this story is merely an attempt to smear a successful businessman turned politician who offers hope to millions,” Tice stated in the article.
The piece also highlights criticism from Baroness Falkner, former head of the Equality and Human Rights Commission. She accused the government of “cowardice” for delaying guidance on women’s rights to single-sex spaces. Falkner alleged that Women and Equalities Minister Bridget Phillipson is “blocking” the policy to protect her political prospects, citing fears of negative impacts on her career.
