Eamonn Holmes ‘doing OK’ after stroke, his son says

Declan Holmes, the son of veteran broadcaster Eamonn Holmes, shared that his father is “recovering well” following a recent stroke. He emphasized the family’s approach to the situation, stating they are “progressing gradually” and prioritizing “stability in their routines.” The update came as GB News confirmed the presenter was hospitalized after the incident, which occurred last week. The channel noted that Holmes “is showing positive signs of improvement” during his treatment.

“We’d really value some privacy as we move forward, and what comes next, but thank you again for the support as it holds great significance for dad and the rest of the family,” Declan added in an Instagram post. The message was accompanied by a photo of him supporting his father’s shoulder.

Eamonn Holmes, who joined GB News in 2022, has been a prominent figure in television for years. He previously hosted programs on ITV and Sky News, including the popular breakfast show with Ruth Langsford, whom he married in 2010. Their relationship has since evolved, as they announced their separation in 2024, with a representative confirming “their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”

Before transitioning to GB News, Holmes was a key member of ITV’s This Morning team. His career has spanned decades, marked by various roles in broadcasting. The 66-year-old, originally from Northern Ireland, has also dealt with other health challenges, such as spinal surgery and a double hip replacement, which affected his mobility and required the use of a scooter.
