A 19-year-old woman, identified as Jamie-Lea Biscoe, has died after being attacked by a dog at her residence in Long Hide, Leaden Roding, near Dunmow. Essex Police arrived at the scene at 22:45 BST on Friday and discovered the victim with critical injuries. The woman was later confirmed dead at the location, according to the police statement.

A 37-year-old man from Dunmow was detained under suspicion of allowing his dog to act aggressively, leading to the fatal injury. The canine was taken into custody, and specialist teams secured the area to ensure safety. A police barrier remained around the property on Sunday.

On Saturday, Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper remarked:

“This event will be a surprise to the local community. My thoughts, and those of all members at Essex Police, are with the family and friends of the woman who passed away yesterday. Experienced investigators are examining the situation to establish the precise sequence of events.”

Authorities are seeking input from the public, encouraging anyone with video evidence, including CCTV or dashcam footage, to contact them regarding incident 1419, which took place on April 10.

St Michael and All Angels Church in the village announced it would host a prayer session and illuminate candles on Sunday afternoon. For additional story ideas about Essex, reach out to the BBC. Follow our updates on BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram, and X.
