Couple Hitchhike to Their Wedding Ceremony

Chloe and George Gardner’s wedding plans faced a sudden setback when they couldn’t secure a taxi. After being stranded on the seafront in Brighton, the couple turned to an unexpected solution: a passing driver. The incident, which was later shared online, became a memorable moment for the pair.

Stranded and Stressed

The couple had chosen Brighton for their legal ceremony, allowing George’s grandparents to attend. However, they were unable to book a taxi in time, forcing them to walk toward the venue. “It was incredibly stressful, as we weren’t certain we’d make it on time,” Chloe admitted. The pair had hoped to hire a black cab for photographs but discovered many nearby vehicles weren’t licensed.

“I told my parents to get in the taxi and we would just call an Uber as they are usually pretty quick,” Chloe said. Yet, the Uber app failed to respond, leaving them without a ride. With no other options, they began walking along the promenade, hoping to reach the register office before the ceremony began.

A Last-Minute Rescue

As they walked, several drivers honked in support, including Reggie, who wasn’t a taxi operator. “To my surprise, he accepted and we all got in!” Chloe recalled. The couple had initially pre-booked a taxi for four, forgetting there were five of them. This oversight led to their impromptu journey.

Chloe’s friend Alice filmed the event, capturing the moment the couple hopped into Reggie’s car. The video quickly gained traction on TikTok and Instagram, amassing thousands of views. “I can look back and laugh now that we hitchhiked to our wedding!” Chloe said, reflecting on the chaotic but heartwarming day.
