Savannah Guthrie returns to NBC’s Today show, as search for mother goes on

Savannah Guthrie Returns to NBC’s Today Show Amid Ongoing Search for Mother

Savannah Guthrie is set to rejoin the NBC morning news team on Monday, marking her first studio appearance since January 30. The date coincides with the day her 84-year-old mother, Nancy, was reported missing from their home in Tucson, Arizona. Guthrie had paused her broadcasting responsibilities shortly after the incident, taking a break to focus on the investigation.

Authorities suspect Nancy was abducted voluntarily from her residence, though no clear motive has been identified. Her disappearance occurred just two days prior to the event, leaving her family in distress. Relatives had dropped her off at home on the evening of January 31 before she failed to appear at a friend’s house the next morning to attend a virtual Sunday service.

Easter Message and Faith Reaffirmed

“I still believe. And so I say with conviction, ‘Happy Easter,'”

declared Savannah in a video message shared from Good Shepherd New York during the Easter Sunday service. This reflection highlighted her steadfast spiritual commitment, even as she grappled with the uncertainty of her mother’s fate. Earlier, she had expressed her determination to return to work, calling it “part of my purpose right now,” despite doubts about her ability to continue.

Guthrie temporarily stepped back from her role on the Today show and from NBC’s Winter Olympics coverage following Nancy’s disappearance. She also hinted at the possibility that her own public profile might have played a role in the incident, stating that the idea was difficult to accept. The family recently announced a $1 million reward for any information leading to Nancy’s safe return.
