Strictly star will not face rape charges, police say

Arrested in October 2025, individual cleared of criminal liability

Hertfordshire Police confirmed on Tuesday that an unnamed celebrity from the BBC dance competition, Strictly Come Dancing, will not be charged with rape. The man, whose identity remains undisclosed, was initially detained on 13 October 2025 and granted bail for further investigation. Prosecutors concluded there was “not enough evidence” to pursue formal charges, according to the force.

“There will be no criminal charges brought against an individual arrested by Hertfordshire Constabulary on Monday 13 October 2025 on suspicion of rape,” the police stated. “The man, who had his bail extended until Tuesday 7 April 2026, will face no further action.”

The Sun previously reported that the incident occurred following a BBC event, with the woman allegedly involved not being a contestant or professional dancer on the show. She had met the man through his participation in the competition. This development is unrelated to the most recent season, which airs from September to December and is filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood.

Earlier in the year, another man linked to the show was arrested in August on suspicion of rape and non-consensual intimate image abuse. His role in the programme is still under review. The current case marks the second such arrest involving Strictly Come Dancing this year.

The BBC competition, which draws large audiences, has seen its share of high-profile incidents. Despite the allegations, the latest investigation has concluded without criminal consequences for the star in question.
