Sports power couple Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe are breaking up

Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe Announce End of Relationship and Podcast Partnership

After a decade-long partnership, renowned athletes Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe have confirmed their decision to part ways. The duo revealed their split during a joint appearance on their podcast, “A Touch More,” which they will gradually discontinue. Bird shared a poignant moment on social media, posting a photo of herself with Rapinoe, who was kneeling and presenting a ring, symbolizing the end of their romantic journey.

A Decade of Shared Journeys

Throughout their relationship, Bird and Rapinoe have maintained a deep connection, both personally and professionally. Bird, a legendary figure in women’s basketball, has secured four WNBA titles and earned 13 All-Star selections during her 20-year career. Rapinoe, celebrated for her role in the Women’s World Cup victories in 2011, 2015, and 2019, emphasized the emotional weight of their decision.

“We poured our hearts into this, and it’s a choice we made as a team,” Rapinoe stated. “This space has been a meaningful part of our lives, especially after retiring. While it will change, we remain committed to supporting each other and our fans.”

Despite the breakup, both athletes expressed gratitude for the podcast’s impact. They plan to host six final episodes of “A Touch More” as a farewell, signaling the end of an era. Rapinoe intends to launch her own podcast, while Bird will continue with a second season of “Bird’s Eye View,” each pursuing individual growth.

“It’s gonna look a little different moving forward,” Rapinoe added. “Our relationship shaped this platform, but now we’re evolving into new chapters for ourselves and our audience.”

Bird highlighted the significance of their shared experiences, noting how the podcast became a cornerstone of their bond. “These past 10 years have been incredible,” she said, “and sharing this space with you has been one of our greatest joys.”
