Gout’s recent performance at the senior Australian championships in Sydney—where he claimed the 200m title in an astonishing 19.67 seconds—has drawn comparisons to Bolt, whose name remains synonymous with sprinting excellence. His achievement not only broke the under-20 world record but also edged closer to Bolt’s 19.93-second mark from 2004, a time the Jamaican was 17 and never improved upon during his teenage years.
“At that young age, because I was there, you start getting put left and right and then you forget track and field,” Bolt says, speaking at the Watches and Wonders exhibition in Geneva, Switzerland. “Hopefully, he has the right set of people to guide him and keep him focused on track and field because the rest of the stuff will always be there. But if you mess up on track and field, then it all goes away.”
